United Methodist Women

June 11:  Deborah Circle will be eating out.  Meet at the church at 11:15 to carpool.

June 20:  Salad Luncheon--The UMW will be hosting a salad luncheon on Thursday, June 20 at 12:30 p.m. in the church parlors.  Invited guests are UMW members from Geneseo, Dysart, and Gladbrook.  All ladies from our church are also invited to attend.

Special speaker will be Marian Arens, a business woman from Cedar Rapids.  She has recently returned from a UNICEF (United National International Children's Emergency Fund) sponsored trip to Botswana, Africa, where she witnessed the ravages of the HIV-AIDS epidemic there--especially the resulting program of the many children left as orphans.  Marian was one of nine Americans invited by UNICEF to make the trip to this South African country.

Sunday School News

The Sunday school is sponsoring the second annual picnic out at Hickory Hill County Park, and the entire congregation is invited to attend.  It will be held on Sunday, June 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the shelter on the hill at the end of the road (the same place as we had it last year.)  After dinner there will be time for games, fishing, boating, hiking and enjoying the wildlife exhibit.  Please come join us for an afternoon of fun!

I also want to extend a special thanks to all those who have taken the time and energy to volunteer to teach our youngsters this year.  It is a joy to see children and adults work together as they learn the message that God has for each of us.
